Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Sciences - 29th June
Group leaders Gipi Schiavo and John Diffley were formally admitted as Fellows of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
Group leaders Gipi Schiavo (Molecular Neuropathobiology)and John Diffley were formally admitted as Fellows of the Academy of Medical Sciences at a ceremony on 29th June.
The President of the Academy of Medical Sciences said, ‘These new Fellows demonstrate the remarkable talent present in the UK biomedical community. Thanks to these exceptional individuals the UK is home to some of the best medical science in the world.’

Forty new Fellows were elected to the Academy Fellowship following the Council meeting in April 2011. These distinguished medical scientists join the existing Fellows of the Academy to bring the total membership to 1022. The Academy promotes advances in medical science as well as campaigning to ensure these are translated into benefits for patients. The Academy’s Fellows are the UK’s leading medical scientists from hospitals, academia, industry and the public service.
